Sicko spied on & ‘fat shamed’ his girlfriend
Brute installed cam in lounge
A BULLY installed a security camera in his living room and used it to spy on his partner.
Janusz Jelen, 34, would watch Agnieszka Mogilska through an iphone app, a court was told.
He taunted the Polish mum of two about her weight through a speaker built into the camera and also listened in on her private conversations.
The victim, who eventually went to police, said she was happy in their two-year relationship until Jelen changed.
Miss Mogilska, 37, told magistrates: “There were allegations every day that I am fat and stupid. The camera was installed in July 2017. He had an application on his phone which enabled him to watch from work.
“When I tried to turn it off he would text to say put it back on and would watch all the time.
“I felt like I was in a mental hospital with 24-hours-a-day surveillance.”
At Tameside magistrates court, Greater Manchester, Jelen was convicted of engaging in controlling or coercive behaviour. He had denied the charge.
The machine operator, of Ashton-under-lyne, was given a suspended jail sentence and 12-month restraining order.
Magistrate Jill Simpson told him: “We believe you displayed oppressive treatment intended to degrade her. You need to modify your behaviour.”
