Silva begs Toffees to show fight

- BY DAVID MADDOCK

MARCO SILVA admitted his dismal Everton side were outmuscled and outplayed by Spurs.

And he revealed he shut them in the Goodison dressing room afterwards to tell them there MUST be more aggression in their play, or they will get rolled over every week in the Premier League.

Speaking after the humiliation of their biggest defeat at home by Spurs, as they conceded six and were lucky not to let in more, Silva (below) said: “I understand people questioning our character.

“Everything I can say for my players I will say inside our dressing room.

“We have to be more smart. We have to be more aggressive if you want to do the right things, to compete in a high level, which we did many times this season.

“In some moments the game in the second half, we didn’t see that.

“We play quick next match. We have to keep together.”

Everton opened the scoring and were unlucky to have a second ruled out when they led.

Dominic Calvert-lewin headed the ball in the net but was adjudged to have fouled Davinson Sanchez after a gentle touch on the back.

Silva said: “It started like we planned it and we scored early.

“Then we score the second goal. Of course after this result talking about the ref is not my way, but it should be 2-0, I didn’t see nothing there on some replays.

“If it had stood it would have been different. But after that we made the first mistake, they equalised and the game changed completely.”
