BEAT UP? WE ARE UPBEAT

MICHAEL CARRICK claims Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s bubbly personality is bringing the best out of the Manchester United players.

Solskjaer can eclipse Sir Matt Busby’s 73-year record by becoming the first United boss to win his first six games in charge if he can mastermind victory over Tottenham tomorrow. Solskjaer has transformed United since taking over last month from Jose Mourinho, who had fallen out with virtually everyone when he left, and Carrick says his positive attitude is enthusing the players.

“Ole’s got the kind of personality that rubs off on everybody,” said the United coach. “He’s so positive, so upbeat all the time. I think you can see that rubbing off on individuals and that goes a long way to bringing the best out of the players.”

Carrick says United, struggling badly under Mourinho, are full of confidence ahead of their clash with his former club because of their winning streak.

“The confidence and the belief is there in the squad,” he said. “A few wins makes such a massive difference.

“They’re in good form and we’re in good form so it’s got the makings of a great game. They’re dangerous and can score goals. They’ve got a lot of threats throughout the team. We’ll be ready for that, but it’s about us. We’ve got such a big threat coming from all angles.”
