TASERED FOR THREAT TO CUT EX’S THROAT
Thug is handed 18-month jail term
A MAN tasered by police after he threatened to cut his ex-girlfriend’s throat was jailed yesterday.
Adam Jordan, 33, admitted false imprisonment and threats to kill at his home on December 8, 2017.
Derry Crown Court heard he called 999 and told the operator he was “holding his ex as a hostage”.
He added: “Get here or I am going to kill her.” He then gave his address to the police. A series of calls between Jordan, from Northland Drive in Moneymore, Co Derry, and the police followed during which his mood changed from being calm to aggressive.
In other calls his former girlfriend told officers he had knives and when asked if she could get out of the house, she replied “No, no”. Police arrived at Jordan’s home and tried to negotiate with him. A member of the armed response unit became increasingly concerned for the safety of the hostage, forced entry to the house and used a taser to subdue Jordan.
The court heard he had 23 previous convictions and was on court bail for other matters when

In jailing the thug for 18 months, Judge Philip Babington told him if he’d been convicted following a trial, he would have been jailed for two years.
