Culkin lifts lid on his nights with pop star
MACAULEY Culkin has given a rare insight into his friendship with Michael Jackson, insisting there was nothing sinister about sharing a bed with the pop star as a child.
The Home Alone favourite said the pair got along well because the late singer understood what he was going through as a child actor.
Culkin, 38, has previously admitted to sleeping in Jacko’s bed. He said: “At the end of the day, it’s almost easy to say it was weird or whatever but it wasn’t because it made sense. At the end of the day, we were friends.
“He reached out to me because a lot of things were happening, big and fast with me and I think he identified with that.
“He was the most famous person in the world. I was a peerless person.
“Nobody else in my Catholic school had even this much idea of what I was going through and he was the kind of person who’d been through the exact same frickin thing and wanted to make sure I wasn’t alone. He was f***ing hilarious. He was charming, f***ing funny.” Culkin was 10 when he shot to stardom as Kevin Mccallister in the Home Alone movies, before Jackson befriended him.
He has always insisted he was never abused by the musician, who died in June 2009 aged 50 from a cardiac arrest brought on by a drug overdose.
And he described claims Jackson was a paedophile as “absolutely ridiculous”. In his interview on Michael Rosenbaum’s Inside of You podcast, Culkin told of his father Kit, who he has not spoken to “in about 23 years”. He said: “Honestly, he was a mean b ***** d. He really shouldn’t have been a father. The word ‘proud’ never came across his lips.” Jacko’s daughter Paris, 20, has reportedly checked in to rehab for her emotional health after a busy year of work that took her around the globe.
