29 years for stabbing his ex to death

A SEX obsessed brute will serve at least 29 years in jail for murdering his former partner with the help of his new lover.

Ian “Torbjorn” Kettlewell stabbed Kelly Franklin 32 times after being driven to her street by Julie Wass.

He had subjected mumof-three Kelly, 29, to 12 years of abuse, Teesside crown court heard.

Her sister Stacy Franklin told him: “Kelly [got] rid [of ] you like a nasty virus.”

Kettlewell, 30, who changed his name to a violent computer game character, was told by Mr Justice Jacobs: “It was her determinat­ion in breaking free that led to her murder.”

Wass, 48, who got eight years for manslaught­er, helped him flee the scene in Hartlepool, Co Durham, last August. HERO goalkeeper Joe Day and his wife Lizzie pose with the beautiful twin daughters who were born while their dad was helping his team to a fairytale 2-0 triumph in the FA Cup.

The Newport County keeper played in the match against Championsh­ip side Middlesbro­ugh knowing that Lizzie had gone into labour on Tuesday.

Joe, 28, said: “I got to the ground when she was being taken to the labour ward.

“She told me to concentrat­e on the game. I didn’t know that the girls had been born when I ran off the pitch at the end of the game.”

After the final whistle, and as his League Two team-mates celebrated getting through to a fifth round match against Premier League giants Manchester City, Joe was seen asking boss Michael Flynn if he could rush off to the hospital.
