Protesters head for BBC to keep over-75s TV fee

- BY BEN GLAZE Deputy Political Editor

CAMPAIGNERS fighting to save free TV licences for over-75s will protest at the BBC’S London HQ today.

Age UK activists will head to New Broadcasting House as consultation on the issue ends.

Pensioners face losing the benefit, worth £150.50 and rising to £154.50 in April, after the Tories ruled the BBC would have to fund the £745million-ayear scheme from June 2020.

The BBC has suggested halving the fee for over-75s, upping the age or giving it to those on pension credits.

The Mirror has been inundated with messages from readers backing our battle to save the lifeline.

Log on to www.bbc.com/yoursay today to help protect the benefit.
