BRUCE TO AXE EIGHT

STEVE BRUCE admits big-name stars face the chop as he looks to trim Sheffield Wednesday’s bloated squad.

The Owls are overloaded with senior pros – and boss Bruce wants to ditch EIGHT of them this summer and work with a group of 24.

He said: “We will eventually head towards that size.

”That is enough these days and then, of course, it opens the door for the young ones to come in and train with the first team if you’ve got one or two injuries.”
