WELDERS ARE GREAT FIT FOR ME

18 months at Lisburn Distillery which I really enjoyed but when you get the opportunity to move up a division, you have to take it.

“I had a couple of offers but it was the Welders chat that stood out to me the most, they are hugely ambitious with their new ground and their aspirations to be in the top flight.

“I have confidence in my own ability and I knew I was more than capable of playing in the Championship, so it was great to hit the ground running with the goals. “Getting those goals was a huge weight off your shoulders because you are trying to fit in and make a name for yourself straight away.

“I had the confidence in myself but I needed to win that confidence and trust from my new teammates and after six weeks or so, I feel like I’ve been able to do that.

“It feels like I have been here for two or three years, I’ve struck up a great bond with my new teammates and it’s a really good match so far.”

Recent heavy defeats – 7-2 at Carrick (where Ferguson scored) and 6-0 against Portadown on Saturday – have led to strong words being exchanged, but the striker isn’t worried about the side soon returning to form.

“They were two bad defeats for us, and strong words were said in the dressing room,” he added.

“Our heads dropped a wee bit in both games and we couldn’t pick ourselves back up again, but I can tell with the characters in this changing room that this is just a blip.

“I’m more than confident that we will be able to pick it up again, bounce back and start to put points on the board.”
