the second week in a row that Trainor has struck decisively at the end of a game.

And Mcmahon added: “Marky has scored eight or nine now despite not having played much football.

“We’re trying to get him playing as much as possible because he’s a great finisher.

“He came on against Lurgan BBOB recently and the first thing he did was hit the bar and the second was force a corner and then he scored the winner late on.

“Saturday was a very tough game as it often is against Red Star.

“They make it very difficult to play against them and the conditions made it more difficult. We managed to get a break and score and then add another to make it a bit more challenging.

“In the circumstances it was a very good result because they were fit and strong so full credit to the boys.

“And that’s our first clean sheet in the league all season and second in any game so we were delighted with that.

“We’ve made a couple of changes, moving a few of the boys’ positions, and they’re playing with a bit of freedom.

“Every game is like a cup final at the minute but those are the games you want to be involved in so we’re really enjoying it.” Also in Division One on Saturday, Hill Street won 4-1 at Glenavy with goals from Jay Gardiner (2), Steven Lawson and Gregg Harrison.

Coalisland Athletic endured a frustrating afternoon but emerged with the points in a 1-0 win over Ambassadors.

Sandy Hill beat Ballyoran by the same scoreline, with Armagh Celtic losing 3-2 at home to Portadown BBOB and the Old Boys of Lurgan winning 1-0 against Newmills.

This weekend, as well as that Caledon versus Coalisland game, Hill Street host Armagh Celtic, Portadown BBOB take on Newmills, Ambassadors are at Lurgan BBOB and Glenavy clash with Ballyoran.
