KING POWER STAYING POWER

Bain tells his gaffer to snub Foxes approach as Celts are bigger club

- BY MICHAEL GANNON

SCOTT BAIN insists Celtic are bigger than Leicester City as he urged Brendan Rodgers to snub the Foxes and make history with the Hoops.

The Parkhead keeper is hoping his manager resists the lure of a return to the English Premier League despite the Midlands outfit sticking the Derry man right at the top of their wishlist to replace sacked

Claude Puel.

Rodgers has unfinished business in Scotland as Celts chase an unprecedented treble treble and a potential 10 league titles on the spin.

The shot stopper said: “Celtic are obviously a bigger club than Leicester. We know the EPL is a big attraction to players and managers alike, so it’s difficult.

“But the whole attraction for the manager coming here was the size of the club and what he can achieve here.

“I don’t see how that has changed regardless of the speculation about interest from other clubs.

“The EPL is always going to attract the best players and managers, purely money wise. He’s been there before but you don’t know what’s going to happen.

“But this club has a lot to offer and likewise, he’s got a lot to offer the club.

“He loves the club and he’s shown over these past few years he is going to be a massive part of the club’s history.

“It’s important for us for him to stay. “He’s probably not even thought about 10 in a row or treble trebles. He’s very focused on the next game.

“Since coming back in January we have treated every game like a cup final and we’ll continue to do that and hopefully reap the rewards.

“But’s being part of something like that is another big draw for him staying here.

“It’s outwith the hands of the players but we all obviously want him to stay.”

Bain insisted the Hoops squad are all desperate for Rodgers to remain in Glasgow as the former Liverpool and Swansea gaffer is a huge part of the club’s trophy success.

The Scotland man admitted he owes the gaffer a huge debt of gratitude for rescuing his career and changing his entire view of the game.

Bain – who was snapped up from Dundee last January – said: “I think you can see how important he is to the club, to the team and to the players.

“He fills us with confidence and he has shown us a way to play.

“We are playing some really good stuff at times and it is down to his philosophy.

“He is massive for the boys and massive for the club so we want him to stay.”
