JAKE IN THE BOX Predator Donaghy bags an early double to kick-start Hillsborough’s 4-0 victory

- BY HARRY ALLEN

TWO first half goals from Jake Donaghy set Hillsborough Boys on the way to a 4-0 win over local rivals Lisburn Youth and enhanced their chances of success in the under-15 section of the Daily Mirror Lisburn Junior Invitational League.

Before Saturday’s games only a point separated the top three with Warrenpoint Town Youth leading the way.

However, Point were involved in the NI Cup, beating Oliver Plunkett 2-1, which meant Hillsborough jumped to the top, four points ahead of Lisburn Youth with a match in hand over the other two.

Donaghy (inset) gave Boro the lead on 11 minutes when he got past a couple of defenders but appeared to run the ball too far before squeezing it in from a tight angle.

His second goal, after 22 minutes was more straightforward when he took advantage of a defensive mix-up to shoot home.

Five minutes into the second half Timmy Orr raced down the left and the cross was headed into his own net by a defender.

The fourth goal came right at the end with Luke Derby setting up the chance for

Cameron Kirkpatrick.

Hillsborough coach Rodney

Latimer said the boys turned in a good all-round performance. There was a special mention for Jack Scott who came back after five weeks out with an injury and did really well.

Latimer warned they will not sit back on their lead. He said: “We play each other three times. A lot of games to go and no room for complacency”

Youth boss Neil Caswell was obviously disappointed but did add they had a few half chances in the second period. Caswell pointed out the team who scored first always won these derbies. Youth were

5-1 League winners early in the season, while

Boro won the

Shield final 4-0 and won again on Saturday.
