HOME ISN’T YET WHERE HARTE IS

- BY FRANCIS MOONEY

MICKEY HARTE hopes a second straight NFL win will go some way towards making Healy Park a stronghold once again.

Tyrone’s record at their own ground has been a source of concern for some time, but they got back on track with a seven points defeat of Monaghan last weekend.

And with another Ulster derby against Cavan at the Omagh venue tomorrow, the Red Hands have a chance to begin enjoying home comforts once again.

“One swallow doesn’t make a summer, we were happy to get the win, but does that make Omagh a fortress?” asked Harte.

“I don’t think so, but maybe if we could put another win with it, it will certainly help to give us a new angle on how we treat – or how other teams treat – coming to Omagh. The beat on the street is that we don’t do well in Omagh, because certain results have gone against us there.”

An impressive win over Roscommon has given Cavan a timely lift following three straight defeats and they will be looking to take another stride towards survival.

Harte said: “It’s important we win the game. Cavan have still got a good team, I think they have had some very good performances even though they lost the (first three) games.

“They were every competitive in all of them, so I’m not expecting anything easy from Cavan.”

Whatever the outcome tomorrow, Harte knows Tyrone will need to add to their points total from a difficult run-in which includes a Croke Park clash with Dublin and a meeting with Galway at Healy Park.

“There’s no easy points in this division, and going away to Dublin and Galway coming to us, it will be difficult to get points from that too.

“But they’re there to be fought for, and we hope we can do something about it.”
