‘TITLE HOPE’S ALL WE NEED’

- BY DAVID ANDERSON

GINI WIJNALDUM claims Liverpool want to beat Everton just as badly as Blues fans want to derail their title bid.

Wijnaldum (above) knows how much Evertonians would relish beating the Reds for the first time since 2010 as it would be a big blow to their title hopes.

But the Dutch midfielder says Liverpool will also be fired up as they are keen to end their 29-year title wait.

“Yeah, we know how much their fans want Everton to win, but we want to defeat them badly too,” he said.

“What do I expect? I expect it’s going to be a big fight. It was a big and good game last time we played them.”

Goodison Park will be jumping and Wijnaldum says Liverpool will use this hostile atmosphere as motivation.

“You use it to spur you on,” he said. “It’s great to win there. In my first year here we won there.

“Then last year we had two draws and we won in the FA Cup. It’s a totally different atmosphere to a normal game, but we will go there to play football and to hopefully enjoy it.”

Liverpool go into the derby full of confidence after thrashing Watford 5-0 on Wednesday and Wijnaldum was delighted after the Reds were knocked for drawing 0-0 with injury-hit Manchester United on Sunday.

“We started quite aggressively, tried to attack and get a lot of bodies in the box,” he said. “In the end, the result is five goals. It was a good evening.

“It clicked well. Sunday it didn’t so well. We started well, but didn’t finish the game good.

“If you collect a point away from home at Manchester

United then normally it’s a good result.”
