Infamy, infamy.. they’ve all got it in for May Attacks from all sides could topple PM

EMBATTLED Theresa May was increasing­ly friendless last night as she came under attack from all sides.

Her premiershi­p looked in peril as Remain Cabinet ministers threatened to resign, Brexiteers called for her to step down and the DUP blasted her “inexcusabl­e” failure at the EU summit in Brussels.

On Thursday night the 27 EU leaders threw the Prime Minister a lifeline by agreeing to delay Brexit until April 12, or May 22 if she can persuade MPS to back her deal at the third time of asking.

But yesterday she wrote to MPS saying she may not seek to try again next week if there is not enough support. She set out four clear choices, including revoking Article 50 and “betraying the referendum”; leaving with no deal on April 12; or asking the EU for a further extension, which would mean taking part in European Parliament elections.

Her preferred, fourth, option is still getting her deal through Parliament, but she faces an enormous struggle after MPS twice rejected it by three-figure margins.

The task looks even harder after the DUP, which props up her government, accused her of failing to secure changes to her Brexit deal – including the Irish Backstop – at the Brussels summit.
