Groom Feeling Great for his Big Day Thanks to WW

-

Robert father-of-six will be feeling great after shedding an incredible five and a half stone. As well as looking forward to spending the rest of his life with love Ruth the Coleraine man can now enjoy a fit and healthy lifestyle thanks to his impressive weight loss.

His forthcoming wedding may have been a big incentive to slim down but his aim was transformed into a reality when the 32-year-old waiter joined WW with his father-in-law to be Terry in May last year.

Robert explained: “I was quite a chubby teenager and didn’t really do anything about it in my twenties. I then settled down to family life and I noticed the weight piling on.

“My father-in-law to be, Terry, started to go to WW and I thought I’d give it a go with him.

“My main goal was to be healthy for my wedding and that is helping me keep at my target.”

As a busy working father to six youngsters, aged from two to 14 years, Robert’s downfall was grabbing high sugar snacks and drinks for a much-needed energy boost. At his heaviest the devoted dad tipped the scales at 18 stone.

“With the kids it’s mental and I wouldn’t have it any other way,” he laughed.

“But whenever you have a bad sleep with the kids it’s all about ‘what will give me energy?’ and ‘what is quick to eat with the kids?’”

But with the help of the weekly WW Workshops and their eating advice Robert turned his life around by transforming his eating habits.

“I love a bit of cheese and cream and I was snacking in between meals on big bags of Mccoy crisps. I was drinking four or five litres of coke a day. I stopped that all when I joined WW ,” he said.

The benefits of WW have been huge, says Robert. Not only have there been the obvious physical benefits of dropping from a 40 inch wait to a 30 inch, but the father’s energy levels and confidence have soared.

“With WW you can eat everything but in moderation. You write down everything you eat so you control and become more aware of what you eat.”

He added: “It’s not a fad diet it’s changing your lifestyle and eating habits so the change will last.”

“I’m out running two or three times a week now – out running the roads. When I started I literally couldn’t run 300 metres and now I’m running 10k or 15k a time.

“I enjoy it and it keeps me active, especially in the Winter I put the kids to bed and then get the running gear and head out for a run on the roads.

“I do my exercises at home and go running – that’s the way I like it. I don’t have a gym body but I feel fit and healthy.

“I’ve so much energy now and I enjoy taking the kids to the park. I play football with the kids in the park whereas before I got so out of breath and had no real energy. I can enjoy the kids more too.”
