BARNES MAGUIRE EXIT HAS BEEN PAINFUL!

But mainly because his replacement Soyuncu loves being, er, very physical

HARVEY BARNES says life’s been a real pain in the Leicester dressing room since Harry Maguire jumped ship to Manchester United.

Maguire made the summer switch to Old Trafford with the Foxes banking a world record £85million fee for a defender.

And winger Barnes says life without the big man can be torture – and it’s all down to the man who’s been asked to fill his boots.

Turkish international defender Caglar Soyuncu (below) has been earning rave reviews since taking over the role, but is also gaining a reputation for having a sadistic side.

Soyuncu accidentally set up Barnes for the sensational strike in the win against Sheffield

United last month.

Soyuncu’s header flew out to the edge of the box from where

Barnes smashed a sweet half-volley into the roof of the net.

Barnes said: “I don’t know what he was doing, but he’s trying to claim an assist!

“In fairness, Cags has done great since he came in

– even if he has his own way of making his mark in the dressing room. His English isn’t the best, so he’s not always chatty, but in his own way he makes his mark on the changing room. He loves being physical.

“He loves pain! Headlocks, that sort of thing. You walk past him and you’ll feel a little punch off someone… don’t bother retaliating, he’s a lot stronger than he looks!”

Filling the gap left by Maguire was never going to be easy but with the Foxes riding high the switch seems to have gone virtually unnoticed.

Barnes added: “There was a big hole to fill but I feel Cags has done that really well so far. On the ball he’s very good, and starting to develop into the player Harry was.”

Foxes boss Brendan Rodgers said: “I’ve been really impressed with Caglar. I think the fans love him, which says a lot. You could see in training that he was bursting to play.

“The biggest difference now is that before he would play well but would also make mistakes.” Leicester go to United seeking their first win there since 1998 – and Rodgers added: “You have to be able to go to any arena and believe you can win. You must have that belief.”
