RUIZ WARNS AJ: I’M EVEN BETTER NOW

- BY DAVID ANDERSON

ANDY RUIZ JNR has warned Anthony Joshua he will be even better in their world heavyweight title rematch.

Ruiz shocked the world when he destroyed Joshua in June (above) to claim his WBA, IBF and WBO titles.

And Ruiz says he will be quicker and stronger when they meet again in Saudi Arabia on December 7.

The Mexican-american, who had only five weeks of preparation for their first fight, has vowed to be on top form for their rematch.

“I will arrive in better condition,” said Ruiz. “I’ll be lighter, faster and more powerful.

“They (the Joshua camp) will believe that in December they will win. People will always talk like this, but I have faith that we’re going to win and shut up more mouths.

“It won’t be an easy fight but nothing is easy in life. We’re training very hard and I will be prepared for whatever he brings.”

Tickets for the Clash on the Dunes, as the fight is being billed, went on sale on Sunday. Neither Ruiz nor Joshua, 29, have resorted to trashtalking to rev up interest.

Ruiz, 30, says he bears no animosity towards Joshua – at least until they step in the ring.

“I have a lot of respect for Anthony,” he said. “Outside the ring he is a very good man. But inside there are no friends.

“I’m still a fan of what he’s done in boxing. He’s been a champion, 16 fights or something like that.

“But I have told him that inside the ring there are no friends, there is no respect, it’s just me and you trying to rip each other’s face off.”
