White House in ‘urgent’ call to meet Harry Dunn family

Teen’s parents battle for justice

-

THE parents of tragic teenager Harry Dunn were invited to an “urgent meeting” at the White House last night.

Tim Dunn, 50, and Charlotte Charles, 44, travelled to Washington by train from New York with their partners.

It remained unclear if they were going to meet US President

Donald Trump or members of his staff.

They were “grateful and surprised” by the invite to talk about their 19-year-old son.

The family said:

“Our priority is justice for our child. We believe that this can only be achieved if

Anne Sacoolas returns to England and engages properly with the justice system.”

Sacoolas, 42, has admitted driving on the wrong side of the road when she hit him on his motorbike. Her lawyer urged his family to ask media to stop trying to reach her.

But the parents’ spokesman Radd Seiger said her apology was “not worth the paper it was written on”. Harry was killed near US base RAF Croughton, Northampton on August 27.

The Mirror revealed how Sacoolas spoke to dying Harry before leaving the scene.

The wife of US spy chief Jonathan Sacoolas fled the UK “approximately three weeks” later claiming diplomatic immunity.

Mr Seiger added: “She said she had abusive messages. We have a family on its knees. It seems odd if she genuinely wishes to accept responsibility that she does not do so openly and honestly.”

Harry’s family said her legal team has ignored three requests to discuss her return.

Her lawyers had not responded last night.

Harry’s family may launch a judicial review into the Foreign and Commonwealth Office’s handling of the issue of immunity. Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab has told the family in a letter that Sacoolas no longer had diplomatic immunity.
