HARRY Dunn’s parents think their meeting with Donald Trump was a trap, but he has insisted it was “beautiful”.

The US President secretly arranged for the motorist accused of killing Harry to be at the White House at the same time as grieving Charlotte Charles and Tim Dunn.

Mr Trump is said to have pleaded with the mum and dad three times to meet the driver Anne Sacoolas.

TV crews and photographers were there to capture the moment. But Trump’s publicity plan failed.

The parents’ spokesman Radd Seiger said: “It was a trap, a set-up.

“I thought we were coming down to have a debate on the diplomatic immunity law, and it soon became clear to us the real reason for inviting us was to try and get Charlotte and Mrs Sacoolas in a room.

“I saw at least three photographers ready to almost... do a press call – to take the money shot.”

Mark Stephens, the parents’ lawyer, said the plot for the families to hug in front of the media “heaped grief and pain on [Harry’s] family by making them go through this but not allowing them to get the closure they need by talking to Mrs Sacoolas”.

The parents’ previously said they would like to meet her – if no politicians or spin doctors were there. Mr Trump said: “My meeting with the family was beautiful in a certain way... Unfortunately, when we had everybody together, they decided not to meet – perhaps they had lawyers involved by that time.

“I spoke with Boris [ Johnson] – he asked me if I’d do that and I did it.”

Mrs Sacoolas, 43, admits she was driving on the wrong side of the road before ploughing into Harry, 19, who was on his motorbike.

The wife of a US intelligence chief fled back to the States, claiming diplomatic immunity after the tragedy near RAF Croughton in Northants in August.

Mr Trump last night defended her because they drive on the right hand side in the US. Last night the Dunn’s legal team said Mrs Sacoolas should now be on Interpol’s “wanted” red list which could mean she would be arrested if she ever left the US.

Northants police are preparing to submit a case file to the CPS.
