Regular boozing It’s a humpbackflip whale ‘is riskier than a weekly binge’

Heart disorder threat increases

HAVING just a few alcoholic drinks often is more risky to heart health than binge drinking once a week.

A study looked at how much boozing increases the risk of developing the heart rhythm condition atrial fibrillation.

The disorder raises the chance of stroke five-fold and symptoms include palpitations, racing or irregular pulse, shortness of breath, tiredness, chest pain and dizziness.

Experts tracked 9.8 million people between 2009 and 2017 and found the number of drinking sessions per week was the strongest risk factor. Dr Jong-il Choi, of Korea University College of Medicine, said: “Recommendations about consumption have focused on reducing the amount. “Drinking less often may also be important. It suggests frequent drinking is more dangerous than infrequent binge drinking.”

Drinking two days a week was used as a reference. By comparison those who drank daily were 41% more likely to develop the disorder.

Those drinking once a week were 7% less likely to get it. There was a 2% rise in the risk for each gram of alcohol taken per week. FLIPPING heck! A whale makes tourists gasp by leaping right out of the sea and doing a cartwheel.

Boat passengers were treated to an incredible 30-minute display as giant humpbacks breached just outside Sydney Harbour.

Expat John Goodridge, 54, who took the shots, said: “One looked like it was going to torpedo the tourist boat. It was incredible.”
