Erik’s not scared of the Reds

ERIK LAMELA is predicting another big season from Spurs and claims they go to Anfield on Sunday with their confidence restored.

Tottenham thrashed Red Star Belgrade 5-0 on Tuesday to put themselves back on course for the Champions League knockout stage – a first win since September 28.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men have only managed four wins in 13 games in all competitions this season and will face a Liverpool side riding high at the top of the Premier League.

But Lamela, who scored against Red Star, with Heung-min Son and Harry Kane getting two apiece, cannot wait to face the team that beat them in last season’s final.

He said: “We were in a very difficult period when the results were not the best, but we won and it’s really important for our confidence. I hope we can keep improving all the way.

“I always believe in this team. We have very good players and we will try to do our best, like always. I think we are going to do well this season. The feeling is good now.

“It’s a tough game at Anfield but we are going there to try to win.”

Spurs could, however, face a UEFA fine after more than 200 Red Star fans found a way to watch Tuesday’s match.

The Serbian club’s supporters were banned from attending the game after being charged with racist behaviour in July.

Spurs were forced to launch an investigation after stewards had to step in and contain a large group of away fans who got hold of tickets on the black market.
