BOWEN ARROW SLAYS FOREST

Hull’s 10 merry men party in Nottingham

- Nottm Forest 1 Hull City 2 BY JOHN WRAGG

HULL cashed in on a shocked Forest to earn a fine away win.

The home side were looking to climb to second in the Championship. But instead Poland winger Kamil Grosicki gave Forest rightback Matty Cash a tough night and they dropped out of the top six.

Grosicki was a £4million Forest target in the summer, but a deal did not go through. Cash must have wished it had.

Even Hull going down to 10 men when Josh Magennis was sent off (circle) for a bad tackle on Ben Watson could not stop Forest suffering a second successive defeat.

Cash did all he could to rescue the game with a solo goal, but this was a big blow to Forest’s promotion hopes.

Their boss Sabri Lamouchi admitted he got team selection wrong for Sunday’s defeat at Wigan. And it all went pear-shaped again.

Top-scorer Lewis Grabban was restored to the attack, but headed his first good chance over in the 32nd minute. Forest could have done with that one going in because it might have unsettled a lively Hull.

Grosicki and Jarrod Bowen both looked dangerous, with the Pole working well with Callum Elder down the left.

Elder’s pass to Jon Toral set up Magennis to slide in and score from close range in the 38th minute, his second goal in successive games.

The Tigers did not look like a side that had suffered two successive defeats.

Bowen scored their second in the 48th minute from Toral’s pass in a lightning raid. Cash gave up trying to keep Grosicki quiet and joined the attack, his driving run bringing Forest’s consolation in the 52nd minute.

Magennis’ red card and Grosicki’s substitution gave Forest false hope of saving the game in a frenzied finish.
