Rash: Be ruthless
MARCUS RASHFORD says Manchester United need to show no mercy in front of goal – despite their moraleboosting win at Norwich.
United beat the Canaries 3-1 to register their first away win in the Premier League since February, a result which lifted them into seventh spot.
But Rashford, who got on the scoresheet with Anthony Martial despite both missing penalties, said there is still some room for improvement.
The striker, who notched his 50th United goal in Sunday’s win, said the Reds need to build on the understanding they showed at Norwich and create even more goalscoring chances.
“The one thing we can improve on is making more clear-cut opportunities for each other,” he said. “For me, that’s the next step.
“We’re creating and making each other halfchances but, as forwards, the easier the goals you can get, the better.
“We want to be able to just square it past the goalkeeper and tap it in. We’ve been working hard and I think, if we keep that up, it’ll become easier for us.
“We’re just talking to each other as we’re playing, and it makes it simpler for you on the ball. If we can give information as we pass the ball, it just makes it that bit easier. That’s the next step for us.
“If we’re 1-0 up, we need to see the game out, we need to improve on that.”
Rashford, 21, hailed the impact made by £15million summer signing Daniel James, who provided another fine assist for the England forward’s goal.
“He’s had a brilliant impact – he’s scored important goals and he’s assisting as well,” added Rashford. “The main thing is that he’s working hard for the team.”
