DARKLANDS star Darren Healy said he wanted to make gang leader Goose the most fearsome thug ever seen on TV.

And the father of two revealed the character was so terrifying it took him hours to wind down after filming. The

Dubliner said: “I wanted to play Goose and thought I was going to enjoy playing him because when I read the script he was my favourite character.

“But he is so dark, such a tormented character, that halfway through the shoot he was getting under my skin. There is a scene coming up where the main character Damien has a nightmare that Goose has killed his brother.

“We were shooting the nightmare scene and I just wanted to go home, shave my moustache off and bring my sons for a walk and give them a hug. I’m so far removed from this character that he was affecting me like no other character before and I was only on the set for seven or eight days.”

Darren, who had to shave his head for the role, added: “He is a borderline psycho and as an actor I have to love him.”
