BEN DAVIES insists Wales stars would never let club differences cause lingering animosity – because they don’t look back in anger.

The Welsh squad, counting down to their final two Euro 2020 qualifiers as they aim to secure automatic qualification, really are singing from the same songsheet.

Their close rapport was underlined on Monday night when they took a break from their preparations to watch former Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher play locally in Cardiff.

Davies said the kind of bust-up that has rocked the England camp in the last two days could not happen in the close-knit Welsh squad.

“Sometimes these things happen in football, said the Tottenham defender of the ruckus between Raheem Sterling and Joe Gomez. “But if it happened in this camp I think it would be fine the next day.

“You just shake hands and get on with it. We have a whole squad of players who feel exactly the same – we want to play for our country at every opportunity.”

And Davies highlighted the togetherness of Ryan

Giggs’s squad.

“We have a good team spirit here,” he said. “A few of the boys got to go to a very good gig on Monday. There were eight or nine of us and we had a good time. I loved it, I thought it was brilliant.

“I wasn’t too aware of his new stuff but the old stuff was class.”

Wales meet Azerbaijan in Baku on Saturday before hosting Hungary next Tuesday knowing six points are likely to secure second place in Group E.

Record scorer Gareth Bale bagged his match. The 30-year-old has trained with the rest of the squad over the past two days and Davies is optimistic about his team-mate’s chances.

“I think it was up in the air about his fitness but he is here for us now,” he said. “Hopefully he is fit enough to get through the two games and he can keep showing the quality he always does for Wales.

“For us to see him this week and see him training was a big boost. He looks completely fine.”
