Reality stars duped into selling cyanide drink online
REALITY stars agreed to promote a drink containing cyanide after being duped by a BBC documentary sting. Former Towie stars Mike Hassini and Lauren Goodger, and Love Island’s Zara Holland, were secretly filmed being asked to promote fake diet drink Cyanora.
They were told the ingredients included hydrogen cyanide, a poison used in Nazi concentration camps and also to execute prisoners in the US. In BBC3 documentary Blindboy Undestroys the World, the celebs were asked if it would be a problem for them to “promote the product before it was ready” despite never having used it.
Former Miss Great Britain, Zara, 24 said, “No, no not for me” before her agent intervened and said she could not lie to her followers.
But Mike, 25, said: “That’s absolutely fine. It’s not a problem at all.
“From what I know, that all looks pretty natural.”
Lauren, 33, was happy to tell her two million followers to try Cyanora, admitting she had never tried Skinny Coffee either, despite promoting the product on Instagram.
Lauren’s agent added: “Half of these posts you see, they’ve not even tried it.”
In January, Lauren claimed she had lost 2st in three weeks drinking Skinny Coffee. In the BBC film, she laughed as she confessed she had not used it at all. Asked for a comment by programmemakers later, Zara said: “My agent did state that I would not promote a product without trying it first, and we needed to be provided with more details.
“I would never deliberately mislead my followers or promote a product that was dangerous.”
Lauren Goodger’s agent declined to comment, while Mike Hassini did not respond to our requests for comment.
