Pell: U’s not under pressure

- BY IAN WINROW

HARRY PELL believes that the pressure will be all on Manchester United as Colchester target a hat-trick of Premier League scalps.

The League Two side have already seen off Tottenham and Crystal Palace in their run to the quarter-finals.

On both occasions, John Mcgreal’s men kept their cool to win a penalty shoot-out after a scoreless stalemate.

And midfielder Pell, 28, (above) reckons United’s nerves will soon start jangling at Old Trafford if the U’s can keep them at bay.

He said: “We’ve earned the right to be in the quarters, and earned the right to have a cup tie away at Old Trafford.

“We are not going along just to make up the numbers – the boys want to do a job on them. The pressure is all on Man United, not on us.

“That pressure will soon ramp up if they are being held by a League Two team in front of such a big crowd.”

The U’s are in the last eight for the second time in their history having lost to Aston Villa 44 years ago.

And fellow Colchester midfielder Brandon Comley, 24, said: “Sometimes you have to sit behind the ball and respect the opposition and with Man United, that goes without saying.

“But we showed against Palace we can actually move the ball in games like that and in the Spurs match – we showed resilience to keep them out. If we do well on the day, you never know what can happen.

“You watch Premier League players on TV and you know what they’re about. But we shouldn’t be in awe of them as we’ve shown our standard.”
