Coady fury as Wolves are hit by a double video nasty to help Liverpool keep 13-point lead
WOLVES skipper Conor Coady claims “ridiculous” VAR is not working after his side were on the wrong end of two controversial decisions at Anfield.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s men were angry when VAR overturned referee Anthony Taylor’s decision to disallow Sadio Mane’s goal for handball against Adam Lallana.
And they claim Virgil van Dijk handled in
TROY DEENEY has called for a second city ceasefire, telling fans to lay off Jack Grealish and warning: “He’s carrying a whole club.”
Skipper Grealish cut a dejected figure after Aston Villa were booed off by 2,000 irate travelling fans after the dismal 3-0 defeat by 10-man Watford.
Villa’s fifth loss in six games left boss Dean Smith under mounting pressure and Grealish appeared to apologise to the fans for the spineless surrender.
But much as Hornets captain Deeney – a dyed-inthe-wool Birmingham fan – revelled in his two goals against the old enemy, he was supportive of the burden Grealish carries.
Deeney said: “There’s a lot of pressure on Jack as he carries a massive club. He’s still a young man and I expect him to give it some on the pitch.
“But at the end of the day he’s just given me a shirt for my little brother who’s a Villa fan. What happens on the pitch stays there and afterwards you shake hands like men and crack on.
“He’s a good kid. People need to lay off him and appreciate that when you’ve got a talent like that, and the amount of pressure he’s under, he’s carrying a whole club’s expectations to keep them up.”
