Spurs double boost as Jose swoops for £25m PSV winger, Lo Celso signs.. and Eriksen finally joins Inter

JOSE MOURINHO is poised to make £25.4million Steven Bergwijn his second signing at Tottenham.

The PSV Eindhoven winger, 22, is set to sign a five-and-a-half-year contract with the north Londoners. Bergwijn has played 16 times for PSV in the Dutch Eredivisie this season, scoring five goals.

He travelled to London on Sunday and is understood to have undergone a medical yesterday.

The move comes after Christian Eriksen finally completed his £17m move to Inter Milan, and Spurs took up their option with Real Betis to make the loan capture of playmaker Giovani Lo Celso permanent for £27m.

Eriksen (training at Inter, below) said of his move to the San Siro: “I couldn’t wait to join. It’s wonderful to be here and I’m happy to be a new Inter player.

“I’m very excited and can’t wait to introduce myself to the fans. I’ve already experienced their warmth. It’s been a fantastic welcome. I feel great.”

Lo Celso’s performances in Tottenham’s last two games – against Norwich and

Southampton – have marked him down as the long-term successor to Eriksen. Bergwijn (above) can play anywhere across the front three and will increase Mourinho’s attacking options. It will allow Heung-min Son to perform once again as the club’s point man, with Harry Kane out until at least April. Confirming negotiations are at an advanced stage between his club and Spurs, Bergwijn said yesterday: “I have indeed called the manager, Ernest Faber, this morning and said that talks are going on.

“He gave me permission. We had a good chat, and he wished me luck, everything went respectfully and according to plan.”

Spurs are still working on a deal to bring in a centre-forward, with talks continuing for AC Milan’s Krzysztof Piatek. The Italian giants want £30m for the Poland striker but Spurs do not value him that expensively, and are understood to have offered a number of players in part-exchange, including Erik Lamela, Juan Foyth and transfer-listed midfielder Victor Wanyama. Mourinho has Leicester striker Islam Slimani, who has asked to be released from his loan spell at Monaco, as a fallback option but the 31-year-old Algeria star is also a shortterm solution for Manchester United.
