Cops probe attack on Man Utd chief’s home VILE YOB

Hunt for thugs who hurled flares

- BY STEPHEN WHITE

THE mob of hooligans who attacked the home of Manchester United boss Ed Woodward are being hunted by police.

Videos shared online show around a dozen hooded thugs outside the £2million property. Flares were thrown over the gate, which was also sprayed with graffiti.

Some of the yobs are thought to be part of

Manchester United hooligan firm the

Men in Black.

A police crime scene investigation van was at the Cheshire home yesterday.

The vandalised gate was covered up with sheeting.

Police said: “We were notified of an incident of criminal damage... with a large group targeting a property in the Nether Peover area.

“Thankfully no one was harmed. Officers will liaise with security officials... to establish the full circumstances... and identify those involved.”

United’s executive vice-chairman Woodward, 48, his wife Isabelle, and their young twins are understood to have been out when the thugs descended on Tuesday night.

The club said: “Anybody found guilty of a criminal offence, or found to be trespassing on this property, will be banned for life by the club and may face prosecution. Expressing opinion is one thing, criminal damage and intent to endanger life is another. There is no excuse for this.”

United legend Rio Ferdinand, 41, said: “Whatever your thoughts on the running of the club, this is out of order.”

The attack, covered by the Mirror yesterday, comes at a time when some fans are unhappy with Woodward and owners, the Glazer family. The team, who lost to Man City on aggregate last night in the Carabao Cup semi-final, are 36 points behind leaders Liverpool in the Premier League.
