Matic: My goal is to stay Red

- BY JEREMY CROSS

NEMANJA MATIC has urged Manchester United to resolve his future after being left in limbo at Old Trafford.

Matic will be out of contract in June and admits United bosses have refused to open talks about a new deal.

The Serbia star, 31, would like to stay at Old Trafford and help them get back to the top again under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

But the former Chelsea ace has offers to join rival clubs and will leave United on a free transfer this summer if nothing can be agreed with executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward (below). Matic said: “I’m at Carring Carrington every day and open to talk if t they think I can help. There have been no t talks. Of c course I want to stay. It’s a pleas pleasure to represent this club.

“I came here to win and I’ll give my best to win trophies. I can’t tell you who is asking for me, but when you play at Manchester United, many clubs are looking to sign you.

“That’s not only me, it’s for every player – especially when you’re out of contract. My first option is Manchester United, but if they decide something else then there are always solutions.”

Matic has urged disgruntled supporters to be patient with Solskjaer’s developing side, but admits time is not something that is allowed at a club the size of United.

He added: “We have had some ups and downs and this is normal for these players, who are still young and improving.

“We cannot be happy because we are United, we always want to win. But we have to be honest, with this players that we have, I think 10 of them are under 20, it is normal.

“But I hope we will continue to work to win games and hopefully to see if we can reach that fourth position.

“The problem is at these kinds of clubs you do not have time. But I think United deserve more and the club wants to win, supporters are used to trophies.”
