Do or die tie for Orchard and Lilies

-

ARMAGH v Kildare is probably the most crucial, significant game of the weekend.

It’s fascinating to see how both teams react after flat and disappointing defeats last weekend.

Both are favourites for promotion, so another defeat would all but kill their chances of achieving that and, due to the ruthless nature of Division 2, would plummet them into a potential regulation battle.

Both could only manage a paltry 10 points last weekend and Jack O’connor will have seen first hand the flaky inconsistencies in Kildare’s game.

And so improving the brittle mentality that is characteristic of Kildare’s performances is his number one challenge.

As always, Kieran Mcgeeney was up front and honest about the rubbish he had just witnessed.

Armagh just never turned up against Laois and it’s that kind of performance that has driven him mad over the last few years.

So it’s a big moment for both teams and managers and l predict that Mcgeeney’s men will bounce back with a big performance of physicality, skill and desire.

LOUTH play Offaly in Drogheda tomorrow at 2pm. It’s an important game for both as neither has managed a win yet.

GAA authorities, in all their wisdom, have fixed Offaly v Louth under-20s for today in Dunleer at 2pm.

It’s a ridiculous decision. It makes absolutely no sense and is an insult to both sets of supporters, and in particular to the under-20s players. Their game should be on at 12.45 tomorrow in Drogheda as a curtain-raiser to the senior match.

The positives totally outweigh the negatives given it would promote the game to the supporters and would allow the young stars to strut their stuff in front of a big crowd.

I’m in disbelief at the silliness of it all.
