really go as well as I expected, given the goal was taken away from me.

“Maybe I’ll have to beg to get the goal back.

“I don’t know if they take bribes, but I’m willing to offer a bit. I don’t even know if he saw the celebration. He was probably playing football with his friends somewhere!”

Cardiff fans were more frustrated the Bluebirds were unable to nail a third win in eight days, which would have left them with their noses pressed against the window to the play-offs.

As it is, they are three points adrift – a gap ensured by two goals from Wales striker Kieffer Moore at a stadium where he is yet to score for his country.

Pack’s claimed strike and an earlier equaliser from Josh Murphy means Cardiff have now drawn 14 times this season, more than any other team in the Championship.

“We’ve only lost seven games all season and our major downfall has been we have drawn too many,” admitted Pack.

“Now we need to find that balance of going for it a bit more in games. If we can turn a few more of those draws into wins we will have a right chance. We just need to be a bit more relentless.”

Wigan have only lost once in their last five games and although they remain in the relegation zone, Moore is confident they can clamber past the clubs above them.

The 6ft 7in striker showed a deft touch to flick home his first goal and then an impressive calmness to convert his penalty in the howling gale.

“I enjoyed the goal and also the penalty – I’ve always felt I can finish in different ways,” said Moore.

“We have picked up some good points since the turn of the year and put in some very good performances.

“I really do believe we’ve turned a corner.

“We need to take this form and momentum and build from here.”
