Griffiths: Let’s get this title won ASAP!
LEIGH GRIFFITHS has urged Celtic to take the coronavirus crisis out of the equation by winning the league before any potential fixture chaos kicks in.
League chiefs are adamant there is no prospect of this league campaign being ruled null and void due to fall-out from the outbreak.
The SFA and SPFL are prepared to implement various last-resort measures in the event of the virus situation worsening such as playing matches behind closed doors.
But Griffiths isn’t prepared to take any chances in a situation that’s changing daily – and wants his team to have nine in a row wrapped up ASAP.
Celtic could go 16 points clear with a win over St Mirren today and Griffiths said: “It depends how early we are talking.
“If it goes into the middle of April before they shut it off then, hopefully, we are beyond catchable so they can’t take the league off us.
“Obviously the virus is spreading like wildfire, but we just need to concentrate on our game and make sure we are doing everything right here.
“We will be looking to go out against St Mirren and try and get three points. The aim is to be as ruthless as possible. That’s been the aim since we came back.
“We were in a difficult position after the winter break, but we have been relentless domestically. We were disappointed to drop two points in midweek at Livingston, but we want to get all three against St Mirren.”
Manager Neil Lennon (above) confirmed Tom Rogic will be in the squad. Daniel Arzani could feature soon. Hatem Abd Elhamed is also back in full training.
