FARKE: WE CAN SHAKE UP BLADES

- BY JON WEST

NORWICH manager Daniel Farke will ignore the Premier League’s coronavirus directive and shake hands with Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder.

The promoted pair used to be bitter enemies but have become pals over the past couple of years.

The Premier League has told players and officials to put the traditional pre-kick-off ritual on hold this weekend over fears it could spread the virus.

But Farke (above) said: “I will definitely shake hands with Chris, because it is important to be careful, but not to panic too much.

“After the game, all the players will probably forget about it, and shake hands. Football is a contact sport and I don’t think it has a massive effect.”

Farke’s relationship with Wilder (left) was originally a rocky one as the Blades boss accused the Canaries of disrespect when they turned up late in 2017 – and was sent off in Norwich’s 1-0 win for angrily booting a ball down the touchline.

But Farke said of Wilder: “It was not love from the first view but, sometimes after that, the biggest love develops, even a bit deeper.

“We have a really good relationship and are both full of respect. We are quite often in touch with text messages.”

Norwich head north on the back of last week’s 1-0 victory over Leicester and Wednesday’s FA Cup penalty shootout triumph at Tottenham. Teemu Pukki is set to reclaim his place up front after staying on the bench against Spurs.

Christoph Zimmermann faces a fitness test with fellow centre-back Timm Klose having rejoined team training on his way back from a knee injury.
