KANE TONIC FOR SPURS

- FROM JOHN CROSS

HARRY KANE has given Tottenham and England a timely boost after stepping up his comeback from injury.

He was pictured going through his paces at the club’s training ground after undergoing rehabilitation following surgery on a hamstring injury suffered in December.

Kane is hopeful of being back in full training by the end of the month and playing in

April, which would be a big lift for England ahead of the Euros this summer.

Dismissing fears that he could miss the rest of the campaign, Kane tweeted: “Love being back on the grass with a ball at my feet.”

England boss Gareth Southgate said last week that he hopes Kane will be fit for this summer but warned he must be match fit and play before the end of the campaign.

The news comes as a major boost for Spurs as Dutch midfielder Steven Bergwijn missed the Champions League last-16 trip to RB Leipzig after suffering what the club called a

“significant” ankle injury in the 1-1 draw at Burnley on Saturday.

He has gone for scans on his sprained left ankle. Kane’s Tottenham and England team-mate Dele Alli (left) has warned his skipper to take it steady in his rush back to fitness.

“Harry’s an amazing athlete and professional,” he said.

“He’s picked up a few injuries and every time he’s recovered very well so I wasn’t surprised to see him out there.

“It’s a massive boost. He’s a real leader and we need him back.

“But I’ve had a few hamstring injuries, I don’t want him to rush it.

“As long as he comes back strong I’ll be happy.”
