GREALISH COULD BE A GOOD FIT FOR UNITED

MANCHESTER UNITED should sign Jack Grealish, but the Aston Villa star must be “careful” to ensure he fulfils his huge potential, says Johnny Giles.

United are considering offering up to £70million for the Villa skipper (above), who has had a stellar season with the Premier League strugglers.

Former United star and Leeds legend Giles reckons some of Grealish’s silky skills are a real throwback.

But he admits Grealish must be more sensible off the pitch after apologising recently for breaking the lockdown to party.

Giles said: “Grealish has a lot of qualities, including the ability to go past people when he is one-on-one. You don’t see much of that nowadays and it really opens up defences when you have someone like that.

“He has the potential to really go a long way in the game.

“But fulfilling it is always another matter. I hope, for his sake and his family, he does, but he has to be careful because he could get a reputation.”

Grealish has been a long-term United target after they tried to sign him as a teenager before he agreed his first pro deal with

Villa. He has since dropped hints that he is keen on a move to Old Trafford after describing it as his favourite ground.

He also said last week that he used to idolise Cristiano Ronaldo at Manchester United and likes the No.7 shirt, which was last worn by outcast Alexis Sanchez and is set to become vacant.

Even Grealish’s Villa teammate Conor Hourihane has admitted it is just a question of when the uncapped England prospect gets his move.

Hourihane said: “The England team and getting that big move is only a matter of time because, if I’m being honest, he’s too good for our team at Aston Villa.”

Grealish earns £60,000 a week at his boyhood club and is under contract until 2023.

He has seven goals and six assists this term in the Premier League and also helped the struggling side into the Carabao Cup final.
