WE DESERVED THIS TITLE..

SCOTT BROWN has insisted Celtic did their talking on the park to win nine-in-a-row.

And now the title is sealed and in the bag, the Hoops skipper says they’ll do their celebrating on Zoom.

Brown moved into club folklore as the captain who led the Glasgow giants to equal the historic landmark of a ninthsuccessive title. The 34-year-old has now joined Billy Mcneill in achieving the feat as the squad’s leader and – alongside James Forrest – has been part of the historic journey from the beginning.

Unfortunately, the coronavirus shutdown has denied the champions the opportunity to do their celebrating on the pitch with the trophy and 60,000 fans in the stands lapping it up.

Brown, though, will make sure the players are united with a call on social media to get everyone together.

He said: “I feel for the lads because we’re not able to get the trophy, we’re not able to have trophy day with the fans and with our families as well. It’s hard for the lads that way but I’m sure we’ll get a Zoom call and we’ll all celebrate that way!

“It’s incredible, to be perfectly honest. We obviously wanted to play every single game but due to the circumstances we have not been able to.

“I think the league has done the right thing having crowned us champions because it was only a matter of time anyway.

“We do our talking on the park and we’ve shown that over the last nine seasons with how consistent we’ve been.

“We wanted to continue that, we wanted to show how dominant we’ve been with the leagues as well.”

Brown says the triumph has come in two parts with a reset and refocus in the middle.

Brown told Celtic TV: “When we got eight in a row we were extremely focused to make sure we got the nine. We know how hard we’ve worked over the years.

“To get eight and then not get over the line to get nine, that fantastic record, would have been extremely harsh on us, especially with what we’ve done over the years.”

I feel for the lads as we are not able to get the trophy but we’ll all have a Zoom call & celebrate it in that way...
