Ballydoyle building up it’s Armory
ARMORY is set to lead Aidan O’brien’s bid for a 12th Tattersalls Irish 2,000 Guineas at the Curragh on June 12.
Leading Ballydoyle hope Innisfree has suffered a setback so with Arizona and Wichita set to lead the stable’s challenge in the Qipco English 2,000 Guineas in Newmarket next week, Armory, a son of Galileo, will spearhead O’brien’s team for the Irish equivalent.
A three-time winner as a juvenile, including the Tyros at Leopardstown and the Futurity at the Curragh, he ended his two-year-old campaign when finishing third to Victor Ludorum in the Group 1 Prix Jean Luc Lagardere at Longchamp.
Meanwhile, five-year-old mare Magical, a three-time Group 1 winner last season, has been entered in the Group 2 Lanwades Stud
Stakes, to be run at the Curragh on June 13.
The 122-rated mare will also hold engagements at Royal Ascot but trainer O’brien has indicated that the Group 1 Pretty Polly, at the Curragh on June 28 is her early season target.
fillies were supplemented to the Kerrygold Irish Oaks (to be run at the Curragh on July 18) at the second entry stage this week.
William Haggas entered Domino Darling and Lady G, while Ger Lyons also added two, Lemista, which won the Group 3 Park Express at Naas in March, and the unraced Thunder Kiss.
Jessica Harrington also added an unraced filly Flor De la Luna and completing the sextet is 76-rated Moll, winner of a Dundalk maiden for Mark Cahill in January.
