in talks for a few projects at the moment and they are American-based and they are for next year.

“I will definitely be over there at some point if not for these projects then with others.

“There is quite a bit happening for me at the moment so I will probably be over there next year. I can’t really say too much about it.”

It certainly won’t hurt Jamie-lee’s career aspirations that Derry Girls has been nominated for a BAFTA in the scripted comedy category.

Produced by Hat Trick Productions, the show was nominated in the same category last year but lost out to Sky Atlantic’s Sally4ever.

This year they face stiff competition from Sharon Horgan’s Catastrophe and Fleabag but Jamie-lee is just delighted the show is getting some international recognition.

She said: “We are all very proud of the show and we all believed in it from the beginning so this is just a really nice pay off.

“Everybody at 16 is a bit of a d***head. I definitely was.”

For the immediate future Jamie–lee and the rest of the cast will remain in close contact through Whatsapp and on social media.

She said the popularity of the first two series has gone global and she still can’t quite believe viewers in Switzerland,
