Calvin can be the TTA of Glasgow
CHEERY Calvin Bassey will bring his trademark grin to Rangers but it’s his Trent Alexander Arnold style that will put smiles on faces in the stands.
The 20-year-old is heading to Glasgow after starring for Leicester’s U23s in recent seasons and the left-back has been tipped to be a smash hit in Scotland.
Crow Pro Elite Academy coach and former Leicester scout Paul Aladejare discovered the full-back tearing up the legendary Hackney Marshes.
He said: “Calvin is an attacking left-back with tremendous shape, size and pace. He’s similar to Trent Alexander Arnold in a lot of ways – tall, gangly but technically very good.
“Calvin’s played a lot of street football so he likes to use his skills to get out of trouble.
“He came to us in 2014 but he’d never been signed with any professional club or academies. He was recommended to us and we could see he was raw but had a lot of potential.
“I was working with Leicester at that time and got him in there for them to have a look. He did so well in an U17 game they said straight away they wanted to take him for the season.
“I know Leicester were keen to keep him and it was only a matter of time before he made the first team.
“Rangers have managed to get a very good player with a lot of potential.”
