Traveller on route to Queen Anne at Royal Ascot

-

RICHARD FAHEY has sent out more than 150 winners from his Musley Bank stable in Malton in each of the past seven years. And there has been plenty of quality since Wootton Bassett’s groundbreaking Group 1 triumph in 2010. Here he reveals to

his six horses to follow this year. handicap (3.15) at Haydock today.

Sprang a 25-1 surprise in a sixfurlong novice race at Haydock in September and was beaten just over a length at Ayr and Redcar on his final two starts at two. He was a big price first time out, but he’s a horse we always liked and he ran well at Ayr and Redcar because the winner’s penalty doesn’t make things easy. He has been gelded over the winter and we always felt he was going to be a nicer three-year-old.

He needs no introduction and had a great season last year with the two Group wins.

He has thrived during the winter and I hope he can step up to the next level, starting with the Queen Anne

Stakes at Royal Ascot next week.

Stepped forward from Newbury debut to score at Thirsk and showed further improvement to finish in the money at Pontefract, Glorious Goodwood (nursery) and Doncaster (valuable sales race).

The horse he beat at Thirsk, The Bell Conductor, broke the two-year-old track record at Southwell next time.

He has done well over the winter, is working well, and the aim is to go for the Britannia at Royal Ascot.

A half–brother by Mshawish, a Grade 1 winner in America for Todd Pletcher making a belated start at stud, to the stable’s Toro Strike.

He’s from the first crop of the sire, and is a fine, big horse who does everything right at home.

A son of the stable’s first Group 1 winner out of an unraced sister to Aidan O’brien’s 2012 Grand Prix de Paris victor Imperial Monarch.

We would love to have a good horse by Wootton Bassett, whose win in the 2010 Prix Jean-luc Lagardère was a milestone for us.

This is is a big colt with a good temperament and he’s going really well at home.
