Sisters’ murderer may be bandaged

- BY TOM PETTIFOR Crime Editor

THE knifeman who murdered two sisters in a city park could strike again, police fear.

Nicole Smallman, 27, and Bibaa Henry, 46, were repeatedly stabbed by a stranger who stalked them early last Saturday.

The killer sustained a serious injury as the sisters fought for their lives and left a trail of blood.

Police used DNA to rule out anyone who knew the pair and the suspect’s blood does not appear to match any on the national database.

Asked if he was worried the

might strike again, Det Chief Insp Simon Harding said: “We always have a fear of what might happen but we are working around the clock.”

The killer is likely to be wearing a bandage from a “noticeable” injury which caused “significant” loss of blood.

The sisters, celebrating Bibaa’s birthday with eight friends at Fryent country park, North West London, were left alone at 12.30am on Saturday and attacked between then and 2.30am. Forensic tents 30 yards apart indicate the attack and its aftermath took place over a large area. The killer appears to have spent time trying hide his victims in a wooded area. A knife believed used in the attack has been found.

Police say there were no signs of a sexual element to the killings.

Investigators are trawling through tons of rubbish which may contain evidence accidentally cleared from the scene.

Bibaa was a social worker in children’s services at Buckingkiller hamshire Council. Her sister was a freelance photographer.

Det Chief Insp Harding said: “They were two very loved sisters who were very, very close despite the age gap. They were surrounded by friends and family who are naturally distraught.”

Scotland Yard refused to reveal if officers had searched the park before the bodies were found at 1pm on Sunday. But a spokesman confirmed the missing persons hunt for the sisters has been referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct.
