GOODBYE SUNSHINE
Hail and thunder on the horizon as temperatures set to plummet
ENJOY the sunshine while you can as we’re headed for rain and hail in the coming days.
Temperatures are set to soar to a heavenly 25C in many places this morning with mostly clear skies.
But weather experts also issued a Status Yellow alert for a different kind of afternoon.
The UK Met Office issued the warning yesterday covering all six counties of Northern Ireland.
It said: “Whilst many places will be dry or see little rain, thunderstorms may cause flooding and disruption in a few places. “Tomorrow is expected to be cooler, with temperatures dipping to between 15C and 21C. There will be some heavy or prolonged showers, with Ulster particularly affected.
“And it will be noticeably cooler again on Saturday with freshening westerly winds bringing showers and highest temperatures of 14C to 17C.
“The outlook for the start of next week is for further unsettled weather.”
Meanwhile, Met Eireann said yesterday: “Heavy thunder-storms are expected to develop later on Thursday and Thursday night with some severe downpours, hail and spot flooding.
“Due to the localised nature of thunderstorms some parts of the country will remain dry.”
The warning is in place from 4pm today until 9am tomorrow.
Met Eireann also added: “The outlook for Thursday night is for an ongoing risk of heavy showers with lightning. Winds will be light northerly or variable becoming light westerly. Lowest temperatures of 11C to 14C.”
