PSNI seize cannabis worth £2m
TWO men were arrested yesterday after cops seized cannabis worth more than £2million.
The pair, aged 32 and 55, were held after three properties in South and East Belfast were raided by Organised Crime Branch detectives.
The searches were linked to a UK Border Force interception of cannabis worth around £1.6million destined for Belfast last month.
Det Insp Kelly said: “This significant haul, worth a combined total of more than £3.6million, demonstrates our commitment to removing dangerous drugs from our communities and thwarting the efforts of organised criminal gangs.”
Meanwhile, a man has been arrested and charged in connection with the seizure of suspected prescription drugs worth £50,000.
Police in Ballymena say the 40-year-old was charged after a search in the Demesne area on Tuesday.
The PSNI carried out the search after Border Force officers intercepted a package containing the tablets. The man is expected to appear at Ballymena Magistrates Court on August 6.
