Man battered in ‘metal bar gang attack’

POLICE are appealing for information following the report of an assault.

It happened in playingfields off Parkgate Gardens in East Belfast in the early hours of Monday.

Det Sgt Moore said: “We received the report just after 3am.

“Officers attended, along with colleagues from Northern Ireland Ambulance Service.

“It’s believed the victim – a man aged in his 20s – was beaten by a number of males, one of whom is believed to be have been armed with a metal bar.

“He was treated for injuries, including bruising to his face and legs.”
