Lockdown has been all write for Jamie
Ulster actor penned 2 scripts ...in between homeschooling
JAMIE Dornan has written two movie scripts during the lockdown – in between homeschooling his kids.
The 50 Shades of Grey actor, from Holywood, said his experience of the coronavirus pandemic was “positive”.
Speaking to fellow Co Down man Philip Reynolds on The Lockdown Podcast, the 38-year-old said he enjoyed spending more time with wife Amelia Warner and their three girls.
He added: “I’m glad I’ve taken the risk to do it and put time and energy into it when I wasn’t homeschooling the kids.
“One I’ve written with a mate of mine from Belfast and it’s getting a bit of traction.”
Jamie said he would love for it to be ready in two years and even have a home premiere.
He added: “We’re tidying up our third draft of it now and you do get a bit ahead of yourself thinking of locations. It’s all set in Belfast – but we just want to make sure we have it right and have the script down and something we are very proud of.
“[But a] Belfast premiere would be quite fun actually.
“The homeschooling was the interesting bit, thankfully our eldest is only six so the sort of schooling she is doing is about my level of education.
“But I’ve loved that aspect of it. They’re off for summer now but they got a bit bored of it towards the end and their discipline was sort of wavering.
“Their enthusiasm for homeschooling dwindled towards the end, let me say that.”
Jamie also spoke of his pride at being patron of the Northern Ireland Pancreatic Cancer charity alongside his dad Jim after losing his mother to the disease when he was 16.
He added: “I wanted to put my name into something that had a personal impact.”
