FIVE PREM SUBS OK FOR NEXT SEASON

- BY JOHN CROSS

PREMIER LEAGUE clubs have been told by the International Football Association Board that they can carry on using five substitutes for all of next season. Premier League bosses will put it to a vote on July 24 to see whether they will use it next year. But dissenting voices include Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson (above), who said: “It’s not fair across the board. The bigger teams with bigger squads are advantaged by it.

“I’d suggest the club vote for less than five because it’s very unlikely our squad will rival Man City, Liverpool, etc.”
