HERO HOLDER IN HIS PRIME WITH TOP AIM

- EXCLUSIVE BY DEAN WILSON

IT took Eoin Morgan winning the World Cup a year ago to be invited to Downing Street, but Jason Holder was granted an audience with THREE Prime Ministers following Sunday’s first Test win.

Such was the delight and the pride in the Windies performance at the Ageas Bowl, that the Prime Ministers of St Vincent, Grenada and his home island Barbados all formed part of a panel on a Caribbean radio show to speak with the skipper.

During the ‘Mason and guests cricket show’ Holder made sure he made the most of the interaction with Dr Ralph Gonsalves, Dr Keith Mitchell and Mia Mottley respectively.

With his sights firmly set on taking the West Indies to No.1 in the world, he offered his thoughts on how local governments could help them achieve their aim.

“It feels warming knowing the support we’ve been getting,” said Holder. “It was a really good win and the guys played some outstanding cricket.

“I think we’ve got what it takes to become the world No.1 and these guys really believe it.

“But it will take a lot, not only from us as players but from the administrative side of the organisation to make sure the overall package is what it is meant to be.”

Ms Mottley said: “The funding is something to look at. This is an area in which we can dominate globally again and we need to set ourselves that target.”
